About The Record:
Samba So, by Brazilian organist Walter Wanderley, is a vibrant lounge and bossa nova album that showcases his distinctive staccato style on the Hammond B-3 organ. The album features a blend of samba-jazz and space-age pop, capturing the groovy essence of the 1960s bossa nova craze in the U.S. While Samba So! did not produce any major hit singles like Wanderley’s earlier Summer Samba from the platinum-certified Rain Forest, it remains a notable entry in his discography for its innovative arrangements and contribution to the lounge music revival in the 1990s. Recorded during the peak of Wanderley’s U.S. fame, the album reflects his collaboration with producer Creed Taylor, who helped elevate bossa nova’s global appeal. Its historical significance lies in its role as a bridge between Brazilian samba traditions and the American pop-jazz scene, cementing Wanderley’s influence on the era’s sound.
