About The Record:
Hi-Wi Zither, by Ruth Welcome is doubly unique. It presents a new kind of mood music - favorites of today played on an instrument used by folksingers since the time of the ancient Greeks. And the artist, Ruth Welcome is the only woman to play the zither professionally in America. For this album, Ruth plays her custom made Meinel Concert Zither, counterpart to the quality of a Stradivari. The sweet vibrancy of the truly beautiful tone lends fresh and original expression to such standards as Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Stardust, and Melancholy Baby, and brings new luster to a medley of themes from The Third Man, the film which first sparked general interest in the zither in 1949.
