About The Record:
The Art of Orlando Gibbons, by Telemann Society, is a sample of the music of Gibbons. The liner notes state, "We have attempted to provide at least one example of every form in which Gibbons wrote: anthem, verse-anthem, madrigal, instrumental fantasia, keyboard music, and music for the English Church service. Gibbons was, in our estimate, the greatest master of polyphonic style of all the Elizabethan composers." Chorus features: Dorothy Walters, Nixon Bicknell, Diana Deer,, and George Oran, under the direction of Theodora Schulze.
