About The Record:
25 Immortal Masterpieces by Unknown Artist is a classical compilation featuring abbreviated excerpts from twenty-five renowned works by composers such as Rossini, Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, Brahms, and Gilbert & Sullivan, with many selections fading out early to fit the generous track count on one LP. A unique aspect is its budget-oriented presentation as an accessible entry point to orchestral and operatic gems, often drawing from varied sources that may include monaural recordings, while fan-favorites include the energetic William Tell Overture, the lively Nutcracker March, the dramatic 1812 Overture, and the atmospheric Night on Bald Mountain. Historically, such Pickwick collections democratized exposure to immortal classical pieces for everyday listeners in the mid-20th century. Popular tracks like the Emperor Concerto excerpt and Tales of the Vienna Woods also highlight the album's mix of symphonic, ballet, and light opera highlights.
