About The Record:
Main Squeeze, by jazz flugelhorn player Chuck Mangione, is an all-instrumental studio album blending jazz fusion and jazz-pop, featuring a stellar lineup of New York City session musicians. The album, initially released on vinyl by A&M Records, was briefly available on CD in the late 1980s before becoming a rare find. Its title track, Main Squeeze, became one of Mangione’s most popular songs, showcasing his signature laid-back yet technically complex flugelhorn style. Historically significant for its role in Mangione’s rise during the 1970s jazz-pop crossover era, the album was performed live with a 70-piece orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl in 1978, as captured on the live album An Evening of Magic.
