About The Record:
Nice Feelin', by Rita Coolidge, is a soulful and eclectic collection that showcases her warm, expressive vocals across a blend of bluesy folk, introspective ballads, and upbeat tracks, with The Dixie Flyers providing efficient backing as the primary studio band. A unique aspect is its shift toward a more personal and unflashy sound compared to her star-studded debut, featuring high-quality engineering by Bruce Botnick and Glyn Johns along with guest contributions like Al Kooper, while covering diverse material including a Neil Young tune from his then-upcoming Harvest album. Historically, it represents an important early step in her solo career following her work with Joe Cocker and Delaney & Bonnie, highlighting her versatility without relying on superstar session players. Fan-favorites and standout cuts include the soulful opener Family Full of Soul, the title track Nice Feelin' itself which perfectly captures an uplifting vibe worthy of naming the album, the bluesy I'll Be Here, and her take on Journey Through the Past. The album reached No. 135 on the Billboard 200.
