About The Record:
II, by Chicago, is a double album that showcases the band's fusion of rock, jazz, and progressive elements with intricate arrangements and strong horn sections. A standout feature is the seven-part suite Ballet for a Girl in Buchannon by James Pankow, which contributed hit singles and highlighted the group's compositional ambition. Fan favorites and popular songs include the high-energy 25 or 6 to 4, the upbeat Make Me Smile, and the ballad Colour My World, all of which remain staples in the band's live performances. The album marked the debut of the band's iconic cursive logo and solidified their breakthrough as a major act following a legal name change from Chicago Transit Authority. It earned a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year and produced three top ten singles with 25 or 6 to 4 reaching No. 4, Colour My World No. 7, and Make Me Smile No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 while the album itself peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200.
