About The Record:
Echos of Paris, by Alice Vermes Trio, is a charming collection of light classical and French-inspired pieces blending popular Parisian standards with original compositions and well-known classical works performed in an intimate trio setting that evokes the romantic atmosphere of mid-20th century Paris. The album uniquely features a medley-style side with Alice Vermes' own compositions such as Alluetta, Sur La Pointe, Violette, Reverie, and Apache Dance alongside classics like Cole Porter's I Love Paris and Edith Piaf's La Vie En Rose, while the reverse highlights piano performances including Debussy's Clair De Lune and Grieg's Concerto In A Minor. A historically significant aspect is its representation of accessible classical music on budget-oriented Plymouth Records, making elegant European sounds available to American audiences in the post-war era through hi-fi vinyl. Fan-favorites often include the lively French medley and the dreamy Clair De Lune for its evocative mood. No hit singles or chart success are associated with the album.
