About The Record:

Ridin' Rainbows, by Tanya Tucker, marked a bold and controversial shift in the young star’s career as she moved from her traditional country roots toward a more pop-oriented and contemporary sound under new management and production by Jerry Goldstein. Recorded in Los Angeles with a team of session musicians known for their work in rock and R&B, the album featured lush string arrangements, disco-influenced rhythms, and a glossier production style that alienated many country purists at the time. Standout tracks include the dreamy title song Ridin’ Rainbows, the playful Dancing the Night Away, and a sultry cover of Knee Deep in the Blues, while fan-favorite Let’s Keep It That Way showcased Tucker’s maturing vocal delivery. One of the album’s most unique moments is It’s a Cowboy Lovin’ Night, a rare foray into western-swing disco that has since gained cult status. The single Ridin’ Rainbows reached No. 8 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, giving Tucker one last significant country charting success before her full transition into pop and rock territory in the following years.
