Inner-sleeve is original (photos/lyrics/credits). Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear. Very Little shelf-wear along top-edge, heavier across bottom-edge and corners; top-edge has text that is easy-to-read. Opening is crisp with signs of use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)

Sleeping with the Past features the UK No. 1 single, Sacrifice, which helped the album also hit No. 1 there. John and Taupin meant for the songs to reflect the style of 1960s icons such as Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, whom they admired. It also became his first platinum album in the UK since 1983. In the US it was also certified platinum. Guy Babylon made his debut on this album and would continue to play keyboards with John for the next 20 years. The album features three USA Billboard Hot 100 hit singles: Healing Hands (No. 13), Sacrifice (No. 18), and Club at the End of the Street (No. 28).
