About The Record:
...In Black and White, by Barbara Mandrell, features ten tracks of new material, primarily country pop-influenced ballads, with notable contributions from artists like B.B. King on guitar for The Thrill Is Gone. The album reached No. 7 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and No. 153 on the Billboard 200, reflecting Mandrell’s continued commercial success during the early 1980s. Historically significant for its blend of country and pop elements, it showcased Mandrell’s versatility amidst her peak popularity, though critic Greg Adams noted its uneven quality due to synthetic production. The album spawned two hit singles: Till You're Gone, which topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and reached No. 25 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, and Operator, Long Distance Please, which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard country singles chart.
