About The Record:

Out of This World by Richard Marino, is a space-age pop and easy listening orchestral album that delivers a transcendental aura through wonderful transitions, stellar effects, and a cohesive cosmic theme featuring stars, moons, and rainbows. Violinist and orchestra leader Marino excels with lush string washes, nocturnal plinks, lilac flute flumes, stardust organ, and wordless female vocals alongside studio-produced electronics, creating an aeriform and illusionistic soundscape that stands out as delightfully different from more gimmicky efforts. The album opens strongly with Cole Porter's title track and includes evocative renditions such as Moonlight Becomes You, When You Wish Upon a Star, Stella by Starlight, and Misty, which have become fan-favorites in the niche exotica and space-age community for their romantic yet otherworldly atmosphere. A unique or interesting fact is its association with Martin Denny's Liberty Records orbit and its praised realization of a space-themed concept through superb overtures and spatial production that holds the dozen pieces together flawlessly. Historically it represents a fine example of early 1960s light orchestral experimentation blending jazz, easy listening, and exotica elements.
