About The Record:
Mercator Projected, by East of Eden, is a pioneering proto-prog album blending psychedelic rock, jazz, blues, and Eastern influences, marked by innovative use of electric violin and saxophone. The album, featuring tracks like Northern Hemisphere and Waterways, showcases the band’s experimental sound, with Dave Arbus’s versatile instrumentation and Geoff Nicholson’s dynamic guitar work creating a distinctive psychedelic-prog fusion. Historically significant as one of the earliest jazz-rock and proto-prog works, it influenced the progressive rock movement alongside contemporaries like King Crimson, despite the band’s underground status. The album remains a cult classic for its bold, genre-defying approach.
