About The Record:

Belts the Hits, is a collection by Sarah Vaughan. Sarah's start as an artist in 1943 came when she left her home in Newark, NJ where she sang in the choir, to win an amateur contest at Harlem's famous Apollo Theater. Her success is based on more than the natural blessings of a fine, clear voice. Jazz critics have called her the freshest, most inspired jazz singer in many years. She isn't just a singer - she's a vocal musician. Coronet Records here presents for your listening pleasure Sarah Vaughan, the little lady of song who made a hit wherever she appeared.
