About The Record:
Country Style by Sonny James, is a collaborative full album featuring Sonny James alongside Eddie Wills, showcasing a mix of traditional country tracks with heartfelt ballads and upbeat numbers that highlight James's smooth vocal delivery and emerging style as the "Southern Gentleman." The album includes songs primarily performed by James such as Jenny Lou, Passin' Through, Gold in the Morning, Wonderin', and I'll Be There, interspersed with selections led by Eddie Wills like That's Where My Money Goes and I May Never See You Again. An interesting fact is its release on the Crown label makes this a lesser-known entry in James's discography amid his transition toward greater success. It captures early 1960s country sounds without major crossover elements yet, serving as a bridge before his big Capitol hits starting later that year.
