About The Record:

Swing Into Spring, by Benny Goodman, is a collection of great moments contained on Columbia records. Among these great moments are Goodman's exciting appearances at the Brussels World's Fair during the summer of 1958 when he and his orchestra brought life and color and thrilling sound to the American exhibition, and his fabulous Carnegie Hall Jazz Concert in January of 1938, a precedent-shattering event - the memory of which still sends shivers down the spines of those who heard it. A critic has said that the special quality of Goodman s success is a combination of timing, musicianship and enthusiasm. His music lifted the public's spirit from the drabness of the Depression and brought it the excitement it so glamorously needed. Benny Goodman, as his records prove, still is providing that excitement. (liner notes)
