About The Record:

Both Sides Now, by Catherine Mckinnon, is a notable work in her discography, showcasing her versatility as a Canadian folk-pop singer by blending folk with orchestrated pop elements. It features her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s Both Sides Now, which became a significant part of her repertoire, reflecting her ability to interpret contemporary songwriters’ works alongside Judy Collins’ arrangement of Richard Farina’s Hard Loving Loser. The album’s historical significance lies in its contribution to McKinnon’s prominence during the 1960s Canadian folk revival, a period when she was a regular on CBC’s Singalong Jubilee and a celebrated vocalist, praised for her clear, celestial voice. The album remains a beloved piece for fans of 1960s folk-pop, often compared to the works of Judy Collins and Mary Hopkin.
