About The Record:

In Disco Order, Vol. 9 by Jimmy Dorsey, is a big band compilation featuring classic swing-era recordings from the orchestra's heyday, showcasing the leader's smooth clarinet work and the ensemble's tight arrangements typical of the late 1930s and early 1940s. The collection highlights the band's versatility across romantic ballads and upbeat novelties, with tracks such as All Of Me, You're So Desireable, Romance, and Shoot The Meatballs To Me, Dominick Boy! standing out as engaging examples of the era's danceable jazz. A unique aspect is its place in the extensive "In Disco Order" reissue series on Ajax, which chronologically preserved and revived Jimmy Dorsey's vast catalog for new generations of big band enthusiasts during the disco era's cultural dominance. Historically significant as part of efforts to document and re-popularize pre-war American swing music amid shifting popular tastes, the album captures the orchestra's polished sound that once filled ballrooms and radio waves. No standout hit singles emerged from this particular volume or charted for the album itself.
