About The Record:
Back In The USSR, by Paul McCartney, is a collection of rock and roll oldies covers recorded live in the studio over just two days with a small band, showcasing his enduring love for classic American sounds like those of Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Fats Domino. Historically significant as the first Western pop album officially released exclusively in the Soviet Union during the glasnost era, it became an instant hit there with copies selling out quickly and fans lining up, marking a cultural bridge before the USSR's collapse. Unique for its raw, energetic approach without overdubs and its limited initial pressing that later expanded with bonus tracks like Summertime before going international. Popular tracks and fan-favorites include Kansas City, Twenty Flight Rock, Lucille, and Bring It On Home To Me, which highlight McCartney's spirited performances of early rock staples. Upon wider release it reached No. 63 on the UK Albums Chart and No. 109 on the Billboard 200.
