About The Record:

Lambada, by Kaoma, was released as a single from their album Worldbeat. This 12" single captured global attention with its infectious rhythm and became the soundtrack to the international Lambada dance craze that swept clubs and dance floors in the late 1980s. A notable fact is that it was essentially an unauthorized adaptation of the Bolivian group Los Kjarkas' earlier track Llorando se fue, leading to a successful lawsuit by the original composers for credit and royalties. The track features energetic vocals by Brazilian singer Loalwa Braz and blended Brazilian and French musical influences into a pop sensation. It stands as a defining one-hit wonder emblematic of summer dance anthems. The single became a massive hit reaching No. 1 in multiple European countries including France for 12 weeks, No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart, and No. 46 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
