About The Record:
Write On, by Hollies, marked their 16th UK studio album and showcased a diverse blend of pop, guitar rock, country, reggae, and funk music. Primarily composed by the group's songwriting team, the album was produced by Peter Bown after their regular producer, Ron Richards, fell ill. Despite critical praise from outlets like National Rockstar, which compared it to Honky Château, and Girl About Town for its creativity, Record Mirror felt the band had lost its touch, and the album failed to chart in the UK but reached the Top 10 in New Zealand. No tracks were released as singles in the UK, but Star became a Top 10 hit in New Zealand (No. 7), and the title track, Write On, reached No. 31 in Germany and the Top 20 in South Africa. Historically significant for its stylistic diversity and the absence of a US release, four tracks later appeared on the 1977 North American album Clarke, Hicks, Sylvester, Calvert, Elliott.
