About The Record:

Inside the Fire by Rita Coolidge is a polished pop and soft rock effort showcasing her warm, soulful vocals across a collection of heartfelt ballads and mid-tempo tracks including standout cuts like Hit Me on the Loveside, Do You Believe in Love, I Can't Afford That Feeling Anymore, and Love From Tokyo. A unique aspect is its production by legendary Tom Dowd, adding a professional sheen to the material, while the album captures Coolidge in a transitional phase as she explored contemporary sounds after her earlier successes. Fan favorites often highlight the emotional depth of songs such as the Richard Kerr and Will Jennings ballad I Can't Afford That Feeling Anymore and the smooth Something Said Love. Historically it marks one of her final releases on A&M Records before she stepped back from the spotlight to focus on social causes. Something Said Love reached No. 15 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.
