About The Record:
Make It Easy on Yourself by Burt Bacharach is a collection of sophisticated orchestral pop featuring the composer's signature intricate melodies and lush arrangements performed largely with his own vocals which add a distinctive if understated personal touch. The album showcases several standout tracks from his collaborations with Hal David including fan-favorites like Promises Promises, ll Never Fall in Love Again and Do You Know the Way to San Jose that highlight his mastery of quirky yet emotionally resonant songcraft. A unique aspect is Bacharach's adventurous take on the title track Make It Easy on Yourself originally a hit for others with a more experimental arrangement here that underscores his evolving production style amid his rising fame. Historically the record captures Bacharach at a creative peak during an era when his work was defining sophisticated adult pop just before his major film scoring successes. ll Never Fall in Love Again reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot 100.
