About The Record:
Sings Bacharach and David, by Connie Francis, is a studio album featuring a collection of songs written by the legendary songwriting duo Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The project began in April under Teddy Randazzo but was abandoned after a few tracks due to creative differences, before being successfully completed in October with arranger Claus Ogerman, marking a reunion from their earlier work on songs for her film Looking for Love. A unique and interesting fact is that the album includes a personal note from Bacharach and David on the back cover expressing their pleasure and pride in Francis recording their songs, calling her one of their favorites. It stands out as Francis's first MGM album released exclusively in stereo, highlighting her shift toward more mature, sophisticated material with lush, jazzy arrangements that reinterpret classics in her distinctive style rather than imitating previous versions like those by Dionne Warwick. Popular songs and fan-favorites include The Look of Love, Walk On By, Don't Make Me Over, Alfie, What the World Needs Now Is Love, and Trains and Boats and Planes.
