About The Record:
The Buddy Holly Story, by Gary Busey, is the original motion picture soundtrack featuring the actor performing energetic renditions of Buddy Holly classics live for the film, capturing the raw spirit of early rock and roll with notable medleys like the Clear Lake Medley blending hits such as That'll Be the Day, Oh Boy, Peggy Sue, and Maybe Baby. A unique aspect is Busey's commitment to recording the tracks authentically during filming, including losing significant weight to embody the iconic musician, which contributed to the project's historical significance as one of the pioneering rock biopics that revived interest in Holly's pioneering legacy. Fan-favorites often include Rave On, It's So Easy, True Love Ways, and Everyday for their faithful yet passionate delivery that echoes the original's infectious charm. The album itself was a hit, reaching No. 11 on the Billboard 200.
