About The Record:

Cowboys & Colored People, by Flip Wilson, is a stand-up comedy album recorded live in a small club, showcasing Wilson's sharp social satire and charismatic delivery. The album features routines like Cowboys & Colored People, David and Goliath, and Christopher Columbus, which humorously tackle societal stereotypes and historical narratives, often with a Southern Negro drawl for comedic effect. Historically significant as one of Wilson's early works, it reached No. 34 on the Billboard charts and helped propel him to mainstream fame, paving the way for his groundbreaking TV show, The Flip Wilson Show, making him the first African American to host a successful TV variety show. The album's edgy humor and wide appeal broke racial and cultural barriers, earning praise for its ability to entertain diverse audiences. No specific tracks from the album are noted as hit singles, as it primarily consists of comedic monologues rather than musical content.
