About The Record:
Primitive,/i^ by Neil Diamond, marked a deliberate return to his early rock 'n' roll and rhythm-and-blues roots after years of more polished adult-contemporary material. The album featured a rawer, guitar-driven sound produced by Denny Diante and included backing from notable session players such as Doug Rhone and members of Toto. Among the standout tracks are the energetic fan-favorite Turn Around,/i^ the bluesy Sleep With Me Tonight,/i^ and the romantic You Make It Feel Like Christmas./i^ Interestingly, Diamond wrote every song himself and even played some guitar, something he rarely did on his own records. The most popular and historically significant track became Fire on the Tracks,/i^ though the album's true highlight for many fans remains the heartfelt ballad One by One.
