About The Record:
Phoenix, by the English rock band Phoenix, formed by ex-Argent members John Verity, Bob Henrit, and Jim Rodford, marked a shift from progressive rock to a more straightforward hard rock and AOR sound, released under CBS Records in Europe and Columbia in the States. Produced by John Verity, the self-titled debut showcased strong guitar work and vocals, with standout tracks like Easy, A Woman Like You, and From the Ashes, though it struggled commercially amid the rise of punk and disco. Historically, the album emerged from the ashes of Argent, reflecting a deliberate move toward accessible rock during a transitional period in music. The single Easy was released in 1976 by CBS Records but did not achieve significant chart success. Despite critical praise for its quality, the album's mainstream appeal was limited, and it became a cult favorite among hard rock enthusiasts.
