About The Record:

Engelbert, by Engelbert Humperdinck, is a lush traditional pop album showcasing the singer's signature romantic baritone on a mix of contemporary covers and original material including upbeat tracks like Love Can Fly and Love Was Here Before the Stars as well as the tender Italian melody Don't Say No (Again). A notable highlight is the inclusion of the French-flavored Les Bicyclettes de Belsize and the reflective The Way It Used to Be which remain popular among fans for their soaring vocal performances and emotional depth. The record also features strong interpretations of standards such as Gentle on My Mind and Love Letters alongside the dramatic A Time for Us and the medley Aquarius/Let the Sun Shine In highlighting Humperdinck's ability to blend easy-listening sophistication with theatrical flair. One interesting aspect is its placement in the artist's prolific late-1960s output during his peak commercial era when he was a leading figure in romantic balladry. The album itself reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 while hit singles from it included I'm a Better Man and Winter World of Love the latter peaking at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Easy Listening chart.
