About The Record:
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Greatest Hits, by Eugene Ormandy, is a compilation album featuring the renowned Mormon Tabernacle Choir directed by Richard P. Condie, accompanied by the prestigious Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Ormandy, with organ support from Alexander Schreiner, Robert Cundick, and Frank Asper. This recording stands out for its prestigious collaboration between one of America's most iconic choral ensembles and a world-class symphony orchestra, blending sacred, patriotic, and classical works in powerful arrangements. Among the fan-favorites are patriotic anthems like God Bless America, This Land Is Your Land, and Battle Hymn of the Republic, alongside timeless choral pieces such as Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah and The Lord's Prayer. Historically significant, many of these tracks draw from the choir's acclaimed earlier recordings with Ormandy, including the Grammy-winning 1959 version of Battle Hymn of the Republic that helped cement the ensemble's international reputation. The album showcases the choir's signature massive, homogeneous sound and remains a beloved collection of inspirational choral masterpieces.
