About The Record:
Fall Sampler '87 by MCA Master Series, is a promotional instrumental compilation showcasing smooth contemporary jazz, new age, and soft fusion sounds from the label's roster of accomplished musicians. It features elegant and atmospheric tracks such as "My Home Away from Home: by Larry Carlton, "St. Anne's Reel" by Jerry Douglas, "Creation" by Billy Joe Walker Jr., and contributions from Robert Greenidge, blending melodic guitar work with relaxing, cinematic vibes that highlight the refined mellow style of the series. A unique aspect is its role as a curated taste of the MCA Master Series catalog, offering listeners an accessible entry point into lesser-known acoustic and fusion gems from the era. Historically, it represents the label's push into high-quality instrumental music during a time when such genres provided sophisticated alternatives to mainstream pop. Fan favorites often include the laid-back guitar-driven pieces that capture a refined, introspective mood.
