About The Record:
Empty Sky, by Elton John, is his debut studio album showcasing early psychedelic folk rock influences with ambitious arrangements and lyrics that marked the beginning of his long-term songwriting partnership with Bernie Taupin. It features no backing vocalists at all, making it unique in his catalog as a raw showcase of his emerging piano-driven sound and songcraft. Among the tracks, Skyline Pigeon stands out as the most popular and enduring fan-favorite, often performed live by John over the decades for its affecting ballad style. The album remains a cult favorite for dedicated fans highlighting the innocence and promise of his pre-fame era despite its under-the-radar initial reception. In 1975 upon its US release it reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200.
