About The Record:
Crazy, was released as a single by The Glass Family, originally a West Coast psychedelic rock band formed in the mid-1960s. They gained initial recognition with their 1967 debut album The Glass Family and the 1969 release Electric Band, blending psych-pop with garage influences before fading from the scene. In a bold pivot during the late 1970s disco explosion, the group reinvented themselves as a funk-soul act, debuting with the 12" single Crazy on JDC Records in 1979, produced by Jim Callon and featuring the high-energy title track (3:08) backed by a smoother Jazzy version (3:02), both penned by Callon and Norman Lamont. This release, part of their disco album Crazy!, captured the era's dance-floor fervor with infectious grooves and orchestral flourishes, exemplifying how veteran rock acts adapted to the genre's dominance amid the post-Saturday Night Fever boom. Historically significant for illustrating the cross-pollination between 1960s psych-rock and 1970s disco, Crazy marked the band's unlikely resurgence, though it remains a cult collector's item today. Among their output, Crazy stands out as their lone chart entry, peaking at No. 31 on the US Dance chart in February 1979, while follow-up singles like Disco Concerto achieved modest club play but no major hits.
