The 1940s-era photo of Rice with his family's band, the Ridge Ramblers, many not reflect the contemporary country sound of his '70s hits, but it certainly is an interesting slice of history. Rice enjoyed several major country hits in the early '70s on the Metromedia and GRT labels, and Instant Rice: The Best of Bobby G rounds up most of them. His biggest hit, \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eYou Lay So Easy on My Mind,\u003c\/span\u003e is a Freddie Hart-style ballad, but \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eFreda Comes, Freda Goes\u003c\/span\u003e is something completely different -- a vaguely Caribbean sounding cut with vibes and horns that Lee Hazlewood co-wrote. Covers of classic country songs such as \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003ePick Me Up on Your Way Down\u003c\/span\u003e and Wanda Jackson's \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eRight or Wrong\u003c\/span\u003e round out the package.
