About The Record:

Dancing With the Lion, by Andreas Vollenweider, released in 1989 marked a significant shift in his career as he incorporated a diverse array of guest musicians from various genres, enriching the album’s new-age and art pop sound. The album, inspired by the birth of Vollenweider’s first child, explores themes of grounding and balancing rational reality with creativity, symbolized by the lion. It achieved commercial success, remaining on the U.S. Billboard charts for over 19 weeks, and was reissued in 2021 due to its enduring popularity. Notable tracks include the title track Dancing With the Lion and Pearls and Tears, which stand out for their melodic appeal and reminiscence of Vollenweider’s earlier compositional style. The album’s production, featuring lush arrangements and instruments like the electroacoustic harp, winds, and percussion, earned critical acclaim for its pure and atmospheric quality.
