About The Record:
Soul and Inspiration, by The 5th Dimension, is a studio album that marked the end of the group's long association with producer Bones Howe and their final release on Bell Records. It featured a shift in production, with various producers including the band members themselves contributing, resulting in a sound that leaned heavily toward adult contemporary and easy listening styles, though tracks like Harlem, My Song, and No Love in the Room offered a bit more soulful edge. A unique aspect is that the later compact disc edition significantly enhanced the original by adding six previously unreleased tracks. The title track Soul and Inspiration, a cover of the Righteous Brothers' classic, became a notable single that reached No. 55 on the Billboard Hot R&B chart. Singles such as Harlem peaked at No. 87 on the Hot R&B Singles chart, while No Love in the Room bubbled under the Hot 100 at No. 105, reflecting the group's transition period without major pop crossover success.
