About The Record:

Something Old Somethig New, by Catherine Mckinnon, is a collection of 12 tracks showcasing her versatile vocal style, blending folk, pop, and traditional ballads. It marked a continuation of McKinnon’s success as a prominent Canadian folk-pop singer in the 1960s, following her breakthrough album Voice of an Angel. The album reflects her ability to interpret both contemporary and classic songs, cementing her reputation as a skilled performer with a “rich, controlled” voice, as noted by critics of the era. Historically significant for its role in her discography, it was part of her prolific output during the peak of her television and recording career, including her appearances on CBC’s Singalong Jubilee. No specific hit singles from this album are widely documented, with her earlier recording of “Until It’s Time for You to Go” (1966) remaining her most notable chart success.
