About The Record:
In the Name of Love '88, by Thompson Twins, is a remixed version of their 1982 hit In the Name of Love, reimagined by DJ Shep Pettibone for the 1988 compilation album The Best of Thompson Twins: Greatest Mixes. This remix, featuring a slick, dance-oriented production tailored for the late '80s club scene, revitalized the track, which originally appeared on the band's U.S. debut album In the Name of Love (1982). Historically significant for its role in sustaining the band's relevance during their commercial peak, the '88 version topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, echoing the original's 1982 chart-topping success, and reached No. 46 on the UK Singles Chart. The single showcased the Thompson Twins' ability to adapt their new wave roots to the evolving electronic dance music landscape, cementing their influence in the MTV era. No additional hit singles were derived directly from this remix, but its success reinforced the enduring popularity of the original In the Name of Love.
