About The Record:
Randy Meisner (6E-140), self-titled album, marked Randy Meisner's debut solo effort after leaving the Eagles, showcasing a blend of pop rock, yacht rock, and country rock. Produced by Alan Brackett, the album features a mix of covers and original tracks, including a stripped-down reworking of Meisner's Eagles hit Take It to the Limit, praised for its emotional depth with acoustic guitar and piano accompaniment. Critics noted the album's varied styles, from rock-driven songs like Bad Man, featured on the FM movie soundtrack, to ballads like Daughter of the Sky, though some felt it lacked cohesion due to its cover-heavy tracklist. Historically significant as Meisner's first post-Eagles project, it reflected his attempt to establish a solo identity amidst contractual obligations with Elektra/Asylum, though it didn't achieve major commercial success.
