About The Record:

Hold Out, by Jackson Browne, is a polished and electrified collection that captures the singer-songwriter stepping into new sonic territory with grooves influenced by the era's club scene while maintaining his signature introspective style on love, loss, and human connection. Standout tracks include the opener Disco Apocalypse which critiques the mindless appeal of disco culture in a manner reminiscent of his earlier work, the evocative fan-favorite That Girl Could Sing written as a portrait of a free-spirited woman inspired by singer Valerie Carter, and the hauntingly beautiful Call It a Loan co-written with David Lindley about the vulnerabilities of falling in love. Of Missing Persons serves as a heartfelt tribute remembering his friend Lowell George of Little Feat and addressing the daughter he left behind. The eight-minute closing title track Hold On Hold Out blends themes of romantic ambivalence with joyous sounds marking one of Browne's most upbeat moments. It became his only album to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 while spawning hit singles Boulevard (No. 19) and That Girl Could Sing (No. 22).
