About The Record:
Butterfly Days, by Bob McBride, was his debut solo album while still a member of the band Lighthouse, marking a significant step in his career as he transitioned to a solo artist. The album, recorded at Thunder Sound in Toronto, achieved critical and commercial success, going gold in Canada with over 50,000 copies sold. It showcased McBride’s vocal range and songwriting, blending rock, pop, and folk elements, with notable contributions from musicians like Howard Shore on flute and Paul Hoffert on vibes. Historically, the album’s release coincided with McBride’s growing prominence, culminating in a 1973 Juno Award for Outstanding Male Performance, though his later departure from Lighthouse was marred by tensions over missed band commitments. Hit singles from the album include Pretty City Lady, Treasure Song, and the title track Butterfly Days.
