The album spawned one hit single, \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eDivided Hearts,\u003c\/span\u003e featuring Phillip Ingram on backing vocals, which peaked at No. 79 on Billboard Magazine's Hot 100. The follow-up \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eI'd Lie to You for Your Love (And That's the Truth)\u003c\/span\u003e failed to chart. \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eLight House\u003c\/span\u003e came to be Carnes' last album with EMI America. In a review of the lead single, Cashbox described \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eDivided Hearts\u003c\/span\u003e as a \"rollicking, bouncing pop tune that disguises the pain of the lyric.\" Billboard described \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eLight House\u003c\/span\u003e as Carnes' \"most accessible\" album since 1981, but opined that there was \"no follow-up\" to rival \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eBette Davis Eyes.\u003c\/span\u003e In a separate review, Billboard called \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eI'd Lie to You for Your Love\u003c\/span\u003e a \"rock stomper with mega-mandolin accompaniment and country-folk harmonies.\" In a retrospective review of Carnes' career for PopMatters, Christian John Wikane described \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eBlack and White\u003c\/span\u003e as \"a stunning showcase for Jerry Peterson, whose saxophone solo sparkled like a shooting star sailing through the night sky.\" \u003cspan style=\"font-style: italic ;\"\u003eDivided Hearts\u003c\/span\u003e entered the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 93 on May 24, 1986.
