About The Record:
Keep Their Heads Ringin' / Take A Hit (12" Single), by Dr. Dre & Mack 10, is a classic West Coast hip-hop release featuring Dr. Dre's iconic G-funk production on the A-side and Mack 10's hard-hitting track produced by Ice Cube on the B-side. The lead song Keep Their Heads Ringin', featuring vocalist Nanci Fletcher, became a fan-favorite for its infectious chorus and interpolation of The Sequence's Funk You Up, while subtly incorporating a raunchy metaphor in its title that went unnoticed by many listeners. Historically significant as the lead single from the soundtrack to the cult comedy film Friday, starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, it helped define the laid-back yet energetic vibe of mid-90s West Coast rap. The music video, directed by F. Gary Gray, included cameos from the film's cast and took place in a plane hangar. Keep Their Heads Ringin', proved to be a major hit single, peaking at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart.
